Sin creates division in our relationship with God and one another. The Sacrament of Reconciliation allows us to seek forgiveness and healing from those sins. "Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed." (James 5:16)
This sacrament of healing is necessary but requires humility and a vulnerability that can be intimidating for adults and children. It's never easy to admit one's sins without God's help. Our goal is to assist parents in understanding of the importance of confession and to help them in the preparation of their children for this encounter with Jesus Christ.
The First Reconciliation Ministry assists parents in educating children about the nature of sin and the need for forgiveness from God. Children are prepared to receive God’s love and mercy in the celebration of their First Reconciliation. Families are encouraged to participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation on a regular basis to experience a life enriched with the abundant graces of God.
“Courage, child, your sins are forgiven.” Matthew 9:2
